Purpose and principles
Our Mission
To equip communities of everyday people to meet the mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of all people who have been displaced.
Our Vision
A world where everyday people and refugees are mending together.
Mending Together believes that
Everyone—whether refugee or sponsor, care provider or neighbor—has a role in the work of repair.
We focus on equipping everyday people with the tools they need to walk alongside refugees with wisdom, compassion, and resilience.
Our programs prioritize communities hosting displaced families, especially in under-resourced areas. We offer trauma-informed training, emotional debriefs, and practical tools that help volunteers and sponsors support refugee healing without burning out.
We are guided by the following principles
-

Human dignity & respect
We treat everyone with kindness and empathy,
recognising each person’s worth. -

Confidentiality & privacy
We ensure personal information is kept confidential,
shared only with consent on a need-to-know basis. -

Safety & protection
We prioritize the safety and protection of everyone, especially
those who are vulnerable or have experienced trauma. -

Holistic & trauma-informed care
We use a person-centered approach
to promote healing and resilience. -

Cultural sensitivity & inclusivity
We respect cultural differences and
prioritize a sense of belonging for all. -

Transparency & accountability
We communicate openly about our work and finances,
and take responsibility for our actions and results. -

Collaboration & empowerment
We work closely with partners, refugees, and volunteers,
valuing their ideas to support them in their own mending. -

Research-based & continuous improvement
We provide ongoing training for volunteers and staff and improve
our programmes through feedback, research, and best practices. -

Faith & compassion
Inspired by our Christian faith, we respect all beliefs
and provide inclusive care without discrimination.
By adhering to these guiding principles, Mending Together will ensure our work aligns with the highest standards of humanitarian aid, mental health best practices, and trauma care, fostering an environment of respect, safety, and empowerment for all involved while being rooted in our faith and compassion.
