Marcus’ journey into refugee care began unexpectedly in 2016, when he met a Kurdish refugee fleeing the Syrian conflict. Their friendship sparked a lasting commitment that has since grown into partnerships with individuals and organizations serving refugees worldwide. With nearly a decade of experience across multiple continents, Marcus brings a cross-cultural, trauma-informed approach to refugee care that emphasizes holistic support and meaningful integration. He believes that healing and belonging require both practical aid and relational presence.
Based in Minneapolis with his wife, Marcus is pursuing a dual master’s degree at seminary. He holds a B.A. in Intercultural Studies and a graduate diploma in International Development from the London School of Economics. Marcus is a Level 2 Certified Christian Trauma Care Provider and he has training in Narrative Exposure Therapy. Marcus cares for himself through photography, cooking for friends, and gathering community. His vision for Mending Together is to mobilize everyday people into refugee care.
